Prudent Actions in All Situations. First of all, what does prudent mean? Webster’s Dictionary states that being prudent means a: using actions marked by wisdom or judiciousness b: being thoughtful in the management of practical affairs What this says to most of us in real life is
that when we are presented with difficult or stressful situations, instead of reacting emotionally, we use a combination of experience, training and judgment in order to take thoughtful and focused action to contain the situation with which we are presented. These situations can be as small as a slight disagreement with another ODS staff member or client, all the way to a physical threat of violence toward ourselves or toward someone we are engaged to protect. ODS officer and supervisor training is in place to help all of us learn the proper procedures to use in a variety of situations. In addition to these procedures, we have ODS veterans who have decades of experiences we can call on for help in applying judgment to these situations. None of us can know every situation we will be presented with while at ODS but, with the principle of Prudent Actions in All Situations and the other resources at our disposal within our company, we can each demonstrate to our clients, as well as to our peers, that we can be depended upon to manage any situation that occurs while continually providing a sense of protection and consistency that we’ve become known for at ODS. |
